Documentation
Photo Identification (e.g. driver’s license or passport)
Health Insurance card or details
Any relevant documentation issued by the hospital (e.g. an admission letter or copies of consent forms)
Details of your medical history and regular medications – including name, formulation, dosage, frequency/interval, what it is for and any special instructions. Taking both a prescription script and the actual medication in its labelled container is ideal
Emergency contact details (name, relationship to you, contact number and address)
Clothing
Loose-fitting, comfortable clothes which are front-fastening, for day and night. Make sure these are not too long, so that they don’t become a trip hazard
Soft, non-wired front-fastening support bras or sports bras (unless you have been advised otherwise)
Soft, comfortable socks and underwear
Any compression garments that you were advised to purchase (e.g. abdominal binder or cycling shorts)
A light weight tote bag for drains, if your surgeon advised that you will have these
Comfortable, flat, non-slip shoes and slippers
A dressing gown (robe)
