How Supraphysiological Preconditioning™ works

By harnessing the power of Supraphysiological Preconditioning™, the BLOOM⁴³ medical device triggers the release of protective Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs), including HSP-32, which induces the release of carbon monoxide in the local tissue- a powerful vasodilator and increases blood flow to the area. And better blood flow means better healing.

  • BLOOM⁴³ is designed to be worn for 3 hours the night before surgery, pre-emptively priming your skin to get ready to heal. In clinical trials the effects of supraphysiological preconditioning™ have been shown to last many hours, with increased blood flow still seen hours after surgery.

  • To use BLOOM⁴³, you’ll need a prescription from your doctor. Here’s a prescription template your doctor can use. Once the prescription is completed, you can place your order directly through the BLOOM⁴³ app. If your doctor would like more information about BLOOM⁴³, please ask them to contact our clinical team at info@bloom43.com

  • BLOOM⁴³ is drug-free and non-invasive, ensuring no side effects or interference with treatment plans. This means additional procedures or treatments can proceed without delay. BLOOM⁴³ is even suitable for use by those who've had pre-operative radiotherapy. Ultra-precise, sensor-controlled, and a certified medical device BLOOM⁴³ gently preconditions the skin, without the risk of burns, offering safe and effective supraphysiological preconditioning™.

  • BLOOM⁴³ is a FDA registered, Class II medical device, having undergone the necessary certification processes meeting the standards required of medical devices. This certification ensures its safety and suitability for use in the context of preparation for surgery. The benefits of supraphysiological preconditioning™ have been shown in two clinical trials.

  • Preparing for surgery is a powerful way of preventing complications that might cause prolonged healing times, additional outpatient appointments or possibly even more surgery. BLOOM⁴³ works in harmony with your body, boosting its natural ability to respond to interventions, using the power of supraphysiological preconditioning™. This works by causing the release of naturally occurring heat-shock proteins, which protect our skin from the effects of surgery. They do this by improving the blood flow to the skin through the release of carbon monoxide, a potent vasodilator. The effect of better blood flow means more oxygen gets delivered to your skin. And better blood flow means better healing.

  • If you are planning to self-fund a BLOOM⁴³ treatment, below is a breakdown of the associated costs:

    • $750 for one device

    • $900 for two devices
      (Each device supports one breast, so bilateral surgery requires two.)

    A refundable deposit is also required:

    • $200 for one device

    • $300 for two devices

    The deposit is refunded once the device(s) are returned after surgery. 

    BLOOM⁴³ is also HSA/FSA eligible, which may help with payment if the patient has access to one of those accounts.

  • Shipping is typically quick—devices usually arrive within 2–3 business days, and we aim to ensure they reach the patient at least three days before surgery. If your surgery date is approaching soon, please contact our customer service team directly and let us know when it is scheduled, and we will personally manage the delivery to ensure the devices arrives on time.

  • BLOOM⁴³ is currently available for breast surgery patients in the U.S. market.
